2.8.2007: Cultural Landscapes for Learning: Exploring the Uses of Video-Based Data for Professional Learning

The Cultural Landscapes Living as Learning Research Collaboratory (CLRC) in collaboration with CICERO Learning is currently organising the 3rd annual professional learning institute for classroom teachers and university educational researchers at the Austin Val Verde Foundation in Santa Barbara, California.

During the institute the participants share, investigate and reflect upon their own and each other's practices and artefacts situated in their work settings. The participants will build collaborative research partnerships with each, across distances, to nurture and support locally-situated globally-relevant approaches to teaching and learning.

The work during and after the institute is facilitated by the use of DIVER, a web-based video analysis and archiving software that supports collaborative investigation of classroom practices across cultures.

The institute is participated by teacher-researchers, graduate students and university professors from across the U.S. and Finland. The participants are encouraged to further develop their writing and teaching practises into a shared research project with the other participants.
